Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 30, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how LinguaMorpha ("we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use the LinguaMorpha application for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch (the "App").
The short version: LinguaMorpha is a local-first app. All your data β answers, progress, settings β stays on your device. There is no account, no cloud sync, and no analytics tracking.
What we collect
What you provide
- Your answers and study activity β Every answer you give in a flashcard or drill is stored locally on your device, along with the date, time, word, question type and whether you were right. This data is used by the App's adaptive learning system to decide which words to show you next. It is never sent off the device by the App; it leaves the device only if you export it yourself (see below).
- Your practice sets β Practice sets you create or import are stored locally on your device.
- Your preferences β App language, learning language, appearance, session size, learning pace, voice and speech speed, dictionary choices, report thresholds, and word-selection filters are stored locally on your device. The Apple Watch app keeps its own settings on the watch and does not exchange data with your iPhone.
- Trial and purchase status β The date your free trial started, and a record of which languages you have unlocked, are stored in your device's keychain so the App can tell whether the trial is running and which languages are unlocked.
What we don't collect
- We do not collect any personal information such as your name, email address, or date of birth.
- We do not require, create, or maintain user accounts.
- We do not collect your precise or approximate location.
- We do not access your contacts, camera, microphone, or photos. The App does not include speaking exercises, audio recording, or any feature that uses the microphone.
- We do not run any analytics, telemetry, or crash-reporting service against your use of the App. There is no Google Analytics, Firebase, Mixpanel, Amplitude, Sentry, Crashlytics, or equivalent in the App.
- We do not store or transmit your answer history, progress, or any other study data to our servers. We do not have a server for this data.
When the app uses the internet
The App is designed to work fully offline. There are a few specific situations where it may make a network connection:
- In-app purchases. If you purchase or restore a LinguaMorpha one-time purchase, the App communicates with Apple's App Store and StoreKit servers. This is handled entirely by Apple β we do not see your payment information.
- External dictionary lookups. In the Spanish and French courses, verb and noun detail screens include optional buttons that open an external dictionary (Linguee, WordReference, Reverso, or RAE) for the word shown. On iPhone and iPad the page opens in an in-app Safari view; on the Mac it opens in your default web browser. This action is user-initiated, and Safari or your browser (not LinguaMorpha) is what loads the page.
- Bug reports and feedback. If you email us feedback or a bug report, it goes through your own mail account directly to the developer and contains only what you choose to write and attach. When you start a report from inside the App, the App opens your mail app with the App's version number and the name of the screen already filled in as the subject; nothing is sent until you send the email yourself. The App itself does not collect or transmit anything in the background.
- Exporting your own data. If you export your study history or practice sets, the App writes them to a file and hands it to the share sheet or save panel; where it goes from there (for example AirDrop, Files or email) is your choice.
Some optional translation features on devices with Apple Intelligence (iOS 26 or macOS 26) use Apple's on-device language model on your device. The App does not send that text to us.
How we use information
Because we don't collect personal information, there's very little to use. The on-device data described above is used for:
- Powering the adaptive learning system inside the App.
- Restoring your session state, preferences, and study history between launches.
- Responding to support requests that you send us by email β only the information you choose to include in the email.
Data sharing
We do not share any of your data with third parties, because there is no data on our side to share. Communication with the App Store for purchases is handled by Apple under Apple's own privacy policy.
Data retention and deletion
Your study data lives on your device until you delete it. You can reset your progress at any time from inside the App: open Settings and, under Reports, choose Reset Data β you can reset verb, noun, word or phrase progress individually, or all progress at once. Erase all data and settings, in the same Settings screen, deletes all your progress and preferences. Uninstalling the App removes its study data and preferences from your device. The trial and purchase record kept in the device keychain is not part of the App's own storage and may remain on the device after the App is uninstalled.
Your rights
Because we do not hold any personal data about you, requests to access, correct, or delete your data are best handled directly on your device using the reset and uninstall mechanisms described above. If you have questions, contact us at privacy@linguamorpha.nl.
Children's privacy
LinguaMorpha is not directed at children under the age of 13, but the App does not collect personal information from anyone, so children's privacy is not put at risk by using it.
Security
Your study data lives in the App's sandboxed storage on your device. The iOS and macOS app sandbox prevents other apps from reading it.
When you send a bug report email, the email is transmitted using your own mail account's normal security (typically TLS/HTTPS).
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy if the App's behaviour changes. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
