On the Mac
LinguaMorpha on the Mac is the same app, but it puts its controls where a Mac user expects them.
The window
A sidebar replaces the cards and toolbar icons of the iPhone: Language at the top, then Start, Study and Tools, with the trial countdown and Unlock at the foot (see The main screen). Choosing a row shows that area on the right.
The menus
LinguaMorpha
- About LinguaMorpha — opens the About window.
- Unlock… — opens the store.
- Settings… (⌘,) — opens the Settings window. See Settings.
File
- Practice Sets — Import… (⌘I) and Export… (⌘E) for a full backup, and Share Selected… and Import Shared… for sending sets to someone else. See Sharing: export and import.
- Study History — Import… (⇧⌘I) and Export… (⇧⌘E). On the Mac this is the only place for it; there is no Study History row in Settings.
These work wherever you are in the app.
Edit
- Find (⌘F) — puts the cursor in the search field of the screen you are on, where it has one.
Study
- The courses, with a tick by the one you are studying. ⌘1, ⌘2 and ⌘3 switch between them in the order listed.
- Select Tenses… (⇧⌘T) — opens the tense picker. Select All and Select None set every tense at once.
Help
- User Guide (⌘?) — opens the guide in its own window, which you can keep open beside the app.
The menu bar follows your App language. Because macOS builds it when the app starts, changing App language offers to restart the app.
Working differently from the iPhone
- Settings is a separate window, with General and your course as tabs along the top, and the voice menu and speed slider directly in the course tab.
- Row actions are on the ⋯ at the end of the row, and on the right-click menu: a practice set offers Edit, Rename, Duplicate and Delete, a folder Rename and Delete.
- Grading buttons always sit under the flashcard.
- Lesson exercises open in a sheet over the lesson.
- Import and export of practice sets and study history are in the File menu rather than on the screens.
- A verb's reference sheet has a share menu with Copy and Save as… (⌘S) to save it as a PDF.
- Dictionary lookups open in your web browser.
- Swipe hints are not shown, so Settings has no Show swipe hints again row.
