Phrases

The Phrases section is the largest drillable pool in LinguaMorpha — around 6,000 entries across two layers:

  1. Curated set phrases (~240) — the multi-word chunks you'd produce in a real conversation: greetings, time and date expressions, social formulas, and everyday phrases. Buenos días, mucho gusto, encantado, de nada, de vez en cuando, en punto, hace falta, a pesar de.
  2. Example sentences (~5,700) — every example sentence attached to a verb or a noun is also drillable here as its own phrase. So a single tomar contributes its three example sentences ("tomo café por la mañana", "vamos a tomar el autobús", …) to the Phrases pool. The same goes for nouns.

That second layer is why the Phrases pool is so much larger than the curated set alone. It turns every example sentence the app already shows you into something you can actually drill.

This section runs the same three-step flow as Verbs and Nouns: Setup, Study, Test.

Setup

  • Select Phrases — filter by CEFR level, frequency, and topic (greetings, travel, food, …).

Study

  • Browse Phrases — a searchable list of the phrases in your current selection, with translations and audio.

Test

  • Phrase Meanings — flashcards in either direction (Spanish ↔ your language), or a random mix.

When to use Phrases

The Phrases section is best used alongside Verbs and Nouns rather than in place of them. It picks up the connective tissue — the chunks you reach for in a real conversation — that the structured Verbs and Nouns sections don't cover.

For single-word vocabulary that isn't a verb or noun (adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, numbers), see the Words section.
