Phrases
The Phrases hub collects Latin sentences of two kinds:
- Set phrases: 22 fixed expressions such as salvē.
- Example sentences: over 3,500 sentences, from the verbs' Tense Examples (over 1,800) and the nouns' examples (over 1,700). A tense example only appears when its tense is switched on in Select tenses.
The hub has these screens:
- Phrases or sentences (Practice): tick the kinds you want. Each row shows a few sample sentences, and ⓘ shows more. Your level and topics also apply: a sentence takes its word's level and topic, and a tense example also needs its tense in your level.
- Select tenses (Practice): the tenses the tense examples may use. This is the same tense choice as on the Verbs hub, so a change here changes the verb drills too.
- Reference (Study) — opens Phrase reference: the selected sentences with their translations. Tap a sentence for its page: its level, for a tense example its tense (tap it for the tense's ⓘ), its topics, and the verb or noun it illustrates (tap it to open that word).
- Meaning (Practice) — opens Phrase meaning: flashcards for the translation of each sentence.
This hub has no Theory page for Latin.
