Meaning changes with gender

Meaning changes with gender is a flashcard deck for the eleven nouns whose meaning depends on the article: el papa is the Pope, la papa is a potato; el capital is money, la capital is a city. The full list is in Nouns whose meaning changes with the article.

Each noun gives two cards, one per article, so the deck has 22 cards. Each card has one correct answer: el cura is the priest, la cura is the cure.

The deck works exactly like Noun meaning: choose a direction, tap the card to turn it, then swipe (or use Wrong and Correct). The Incorrect answers and Listen switches work the same way too.

  • Spanish → your language: you see la frente and answer "forehead", not "front", which would be el frente.
  • Your language → Spanish: you see "capital (money)" and must answer el capital, not la capital and not just capital.

Which nouns appear. The deck is closed: it always holds these eleven nouns and ignores your selection, so you do not need to select them first. Answers are recorded like Noun meaning answers.

The same eleven nouns are also a Traps deck, Different meaning by article (see Traps).
